Using the snapshot portrait studies taken during my journeys around the world through Southeast Asia, Europe, South America, Caribbean Islands, Middle East and North America. I have modified the original film images and sometimes digital images to enhance and update the look, add layers of other images to create a fusion of content and product leading to the future work in montages
My inspiration for these montages is the work done by Robert Rauschenberg, Alexander Rodchenko, David Park and John Deibenkorn of the Bay Area Figurative Artists. Patterns created by mud splattered pickup truck’s on shiny enameled metal; atmospheric efforts created by intentionally blurring some or all people including some very out of focus shots; cropping and composing the portraits in different environs and sometimes made up scenes or mashups of architecture and place. These pieces are applied merged and orchestrated to achieve montage like prints with a new and fresh narrative.
